This was an absolutely brilliant two-part story from an absolutely magnificent series. I really don't care what anyone says; there's no doubt in my mind that Jack's '70s Marvel period was the pinnacle of his career and his work on 2001 was easily amongst the best that he or anyone else has ever done in comics.
Kirby was a man among children by this point in his development as an artist. His themes, the stories, his use of language, the composition of pages, the panels as both storytelling and pure imagery, it's all just amazing stuff, there's nothing like it.
Mr. Royer
These pages look SO much better than their printed counterparts. Royer's inks are sublime.
Magnificent
