Byrne
When I saw the original, this Byrne's drawing from his brief run in Hulk immediately popped in mind:

While it's not exactly equal, I think that Byrne's version captures perfectly the essence of the original version by Kirby. When Byrne relaunched titles, he very often returned to the basics, as he told in many interviews. Imho, Byrne's is one of my favourite run in the title. A pity that it was so brief...
About the original, it's impressive! Maybe the finest sample of Kirby's work in Hulk that I ever saw in the original art market.
Imho, Ayers' crude style fits perfectly in this title, providing a look that brings the flavour of the old monster stories.
